This banana bread recipe calls for very simple and basic ingredients. You don’t even need to add in a lot of sugar or can completely skip it as the ripe bananas are perfectly naturally sweetened. Feel free to add almonds or walnuts for some crunch or leave them out completely if you want nut-free bread.

Delicious soft crumb banana bread filled with banana and chocolate flavors!

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1 Tbsp flax egg

  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil, melted

  • 1 cup milk

  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) for 10 minutes and line a 9.5 x 5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Take a large mixing bowl and mash the bananas well using a fork. Then sieve through brown sugar, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and all-purpose flour and combine everything well.
  • Finally, add the wet ingredients (pure vanilla extract, flax egg, coconut oil, and milk) to the dry ingredient mix. Using a spatula, gently mix the batter until there is no dry flour left, but do not overmix.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf tin. Add the dark chocolate chips on the top. Bake in the oven at 200°C for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Once the bread is baked, allow it to cool down completely before removing it from the tin and slicing.
  • Serve, and enjoy!
